Labor Day, Gilpin Lake

Gilpin Lake is a glacial lake located in the Zirkel mountains.  On Labor Day, we hiked straight up the 5 mile climb to see the turquoise water reflecting in the shadow of the mountains.  Well worth the journey!

This painting was created with a palette knife to apply the paint thickly to the panel.  It is framed in a neutral wood frame.
